Vincent’s mother thought that a communication tool or program would help Vincent communicate better with his friends and family and that would help to build his self-esteem and confidence. So, to help Vincent learn to communicate better, he is receiving the PECS Communication Program as his Dose of Kindness award.
Jabril is 14 years old and uses a computer all the time at school. However, he doesn’t have one at home. Jabril likes to listen to music and play games on the computer. He is learning to type on the computer and with an adaptive keyboard, he will become even better at it. So, Jabril is receiving a home computer, with Internet access and an adaptive keyboard, as his Dose of Kindness award.
Ashley uses a motorized wheelchair and a motorized scooter. She also attends community college with her sister. Right now, the family has an older van that they use to transport the girls to school but it can not accommodate the motorized wheelchair or scooter. A manual wheelchair or a walker are not suitable for Ashley once she gets to the campus. So, Ashley is receiving a newer van that can be modified with a wheelchair lift so that she can take her motorized wheelchair with her anywhere.
