Mikea would like to learn how to dance hip hop. She and her sister often dance together and make up dance routines. With dance lessons, she hopes to improve her dance skills and maybe one day attend the Duke Ellington School for the Arts. So Mikea is getting dance lessons in Hip Hop as her Dose of Kindness award.
Brian uses an adaptive tricycle for fun and for therapy while he is at school. Riding the tricycle improves his muscle development which will help him with walking. A tricycle of his own will also allow him to play outdoors with the other children. So for Brian’s award, he is receiving an adaptive tricycle.
Shannon loves Sponge Bob Square Pants! Her mother says that every time the Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoon is on TV, Shannon gets her mother so that she can watch it. Shannon’s mom wanted to do something special for Shannon to make her life happier. Shannon tries really hard in spite of her disability, and her mother wanted to get her the Sponge Bob Square Pants talking doll to let Shannon know that she was proud of her. For Shannon’s Dose of Kindness award, she not only received the Sponge Bob Square Pants talking doll, but she also received a Tickle Me Elmo doll, and a very special "Pink Monkey".
Lawrence loves to read! He loves to read all types of books, but recently, he has developed a love of books on Black History. This came about when he was selected to play the role of Thurgood Marshall in a church play. Unlike most children, Lawrence will head straight to the book section of a toy store rather the toys or videos section. So Lawrence is getting lots and lots of books on Black History that he can read now as well as grow into.
